Six meters was totally dead on Saturday from here in the Pocono's of Pa. Some
scatter on Sunday morning but activity was very poor. Sunday morning I saw my
first sign of DX at 11 am local. C5 in Gambia was worked on the first call.
Afterwards conditions were great all afternoon, but I never had anything I
could call a run. At one point I worked a few Calif stations on CW but even
with my antenna west, I had a EA8 call me. Never worked were any W7's. All in
all any contest is better than watching TV or working. I really want to congrat
all the great CW ops that have entered VHF contesting. But I surely wish they
would get an antenna up and operate 144 mhz.
One suggestion might to have a special area for operating CW on 144 mhz, as is
50 mhz. It would surely activate a depleting band.
