Comments:

Interesting time this week: I turned on the radios 10 minutes before and had a
very loud AC hum in the headphones. At first I thought it was just my homebrew
audio switch, as the hum went away when I plugged directly into the radio
headphone jack. I operated with one radio this way for a little bit, but
figured out soon something was wrong with my signal.

Next I dragged out the oscilloscope and found a .15 v AC ripple on the Astron
output. After opening up the power supply, I figured out that the connection to
the main filter cap was loose. I tightened it up and everything was normal
again, but NS was already over!
