Comments:
As others have noted, we enjoyed excellent conditions, the best I can remember
in any WPX CW. Too band 10m didn't open to Europe, except for my favorite
contact of the contest, with a weak R7LV, who I found only after seeing his
signal as a very thin trace on my SDR's waterfall display, at 1938z Sunday.
I had a few distractions early, with RF from the 20m radio somehow finding a
path into the 15m radio, followed by a "HI RFI" warning message on that K3,
which then refused to put out more than 12W. However, after about 20 minutes
powered off, that K3 powered up normally, and it worked fine for the rest of
the contest. Very strange. Maybe something in one of the external BP filters
went out.
Congrats to NY6N(K6AM @ W6YI) and NF6A(K6XX) for super competing efforts in the
SO category. I didn't plan my off time very well, and ended up taking a badly
needed sleep break from 1500-1700z Saturday morning, which in retrospect may
have been a big mistake.
