Comments:
Fantastic contest. Everything was in place, conditions supported us and station
worked flawlessly. Competition with RU1A was thrilling and only in the very
last hours we got ahead by QSO numbers and it seems our band change strategy
worked well as we have 1m points lead.
S&P stations are the ones who win this contest. We had even 3 stations doing
S&P on the RUN band at times. While RUN station made ca 4200 Qs then S&P
stations made ca 1800 and only some 250 on the other bands then RUN band at a
time. WPX rules require full interlock for all stations so the amount of
certain Russian words denoting certain body parts as shouted by the RUN
operators when being cut off in the middle of their exchange transmission can
be easily conted in hundreds as well.
Last number given out was 6003 and the last hour of 59xx numbers was a real
pain. I guess 5995959 needed ca 10 repeats:) RU1A supposedly having the same
trouble at the same time provided comfort.
Needless to say, working US and JA at the same time well past local midnight on
15 meters is unheard of. Imagine the scores if 10m would have been opened to NA,
no US worked on 10m.
