K8MM + PACKET
6M finally opened to most of the country Sunday afternoon and evening.
I had long runs of working the East and West coast at the same time. The
E-skip
got really short on 6M near the end and I worked many guys in the U.P., WI, and
MN.
The MUF directly above Michigan got high enough that the guys in W1 and W0
were
able to work each other on 2M via E-skip. I worked a handful of EU and the
Caribbean
on 6M and also a few guys on meteor scatter Saturday night. I'm pretty sure I
worked
every guy in Boston that had 6M rig on the air. I ended up working FN42
fifty-five times.
22% of my contacts came from the FN41,42,31,32 area on 6M. Some W1's were
pinning the
needle on the S-meter Sunday evening.
Tropo seemed a little better than normal on 2M and up. I worked down into MD
and
Eastern PA with only 20W on 2M. The problems I had with the 1296 transverter
got
ironed out Sunday morning and I was able to put a few guys in the log on that
band.
This is my best score so far in a VHF contest.
