Fair ssn/flux + low a/k = best condx out of the last 10 yrs in wpx cw.
Few days b4 the ctest I was joking with some friends that were worried abt the
upcoming condx (solar storm again?!) developing a scientific forecast: as I'm a
lucky boy and won't be able to do the long awaited AB-HP @ solar peak, condx
will be super. And so it was! ;-)

15mt openings round the clock brought back lots of memories from the past solar
cycle. [...]
10mt had openings as well but for whatever reason no chances to get some rate
from US. Sometimes things were as good as on Sat @ 23z with lots of S-9+20db
sigs from East C. and W5. I even heard NR6O skewed 285deg @ S-3 but "dit dit
dah dah dit dit" was the best I could get.

Taking the final decision to operate no earlier than Thursday I developed a
professional approach to wpx cw this yr. 4 hrs sleep (4am to 8am) the night b4
the ctest with a busy day on Friday in order to assure being well rested for
the start.
Leaving for the 100km trip to the location @ 22z with arrival @ 23.15z and 2R
setup assembly starting @ 23.30z to make a sure late start @ 01z.
Unfortunately such a good plan miserably failed by 8 minutes (01.08z) due to an
unexpected problem on the 20mt RF path which needed to be solved b4 sitting on
the chair.
The rest of the weekend was 36 hrs of operating fun with no fatigue. Just a
couple of hours during late Sat afternoon when I found myself slowing down the
activity on the 2nd radio.

All in all several records were broken this yr. I'm quite surprised the AB-HP
EU didn't fall as 11/12 mln seemed possible.
Hopefully this cycle allows a chance in 2013 ;-)

The final count calls 2901 Qs dupes included. CQ = 2009 Qs (69.2%), S&P = 892
Qs (30.7%).
2R S&Ping and 2R CQing was used besides typical 2R activity (1 CQ + 1 S&P).
Unlike HP the achievable rate was mostly abt the same in all the 3 scenarios
but the key was to make the correct choice at any given moment.
Just one real running moment being on 10mt Sunday morning working Es with 90%
EU and 10% AS.
Thought it was possible to aim at 2400Qs with 2.5pt/qs avg and 1000 mults
giving out 6 mln. But things went unexpectedly much better, basically because
there was no drop in Qs nr on day 2 (abt 1500 + 1400). It will be interesting
to see what the 3 stns from Eastern EU did as I always found myself behind them
in Qs nr. I guess everyone is above the EU record (5.5 mln).
