Comments:

Field Day is a wonderful reason to get out of the house. This year
a trip to the field was not possible so I decided to run QRP
with battery power from the Caltech station with our special event call W6CIT.
My K3 was powered by two GPL-27T AGM batteries in parallel (used discards from
work), and connected to the W6UE antenna farm of 4 el 15 @80', 5 el 20 @70',
and 40 sloper from 100'.
Being curious how well 5 watts would work I wanted to call CQ as much as
possible. 14067 was home from 2007 to 2214Z. Back on the radio Saturday evening
14028 was productive from 0339 until 0604 when I decided to try SSB.
I had a nice run on 14200.2 for 30 minutes then headed for bed.
Sunday morning was busy but I got on for the last 18 minutes and worked 29
stations on 21013 for my best rate of the weekend.
57 sections and a few Europeans were logged. Not bad with 5 watts, an SFI of
88, and little operating time.
I missed being on a hilltop or mountain with a bunch of fellow enthusiasts. I
found myself reminiscing about past Field Days as I logged stations from around
North America. Good times then and now!
I hope everone's FD was safe and enjoyable.
