Comments:
My usual goal in SS is to get the "sweep", which is only possible from my little
station by using packet assistance. I knew the re-sectioning of Ontario was
going to be trouble for the west coast and it lived up to my expectations. I
was ready to give up on ONN but somehow managed to capture it 35 minutes before
the contest ended. VE3ZI was between S-zero and S-one and somehow he heard my
signal from the inverted vee on 80m, the apex of which is at 55 feet, the ends
at about 15 feet. I could hardly believe that he came back to me since the east
coast had him buried. One can never be sure about propagation and I learned to
never give up!
