Comments:
Elecraft K3 at 5 watts to a pair of broadband 74' dipoles up about 50' at right
angles, and fed with Johnson Matchboxes. Running QRP, I tried an experiment.
Normally calling CQ does nothing in a big contest. But calling CQ later in the
contest yielded some fun run rates, although not a competitive showing. All Q's
were CQ except three of them. Search and Pounce is still the way to go with QRP
for better success. The last Q for me was when I tuned across John, K4BAI on
80M in the waning hours of SS, and I called him. He was S9, I must have been
about S-zero, but John pulled me through with numerous fills with those great
ears. Not wanting to make anyone else suffer through a marginal Q, I sealed up
the SS for 2012. 73 and C U down the log. Dan, ke0g
