I will complain about this until I die but it just does not make sense that
multi-op single transmitter stations can not be like single op and not have to
worry about band changes. It would increase activity and make it a lot more
fun if this was changed. It just is not right that a single op can get a
bigger score than a multi-op station because of the rules. But then who
listens. These rules were written by the ARRL and are of
the east coast mentality. It is the same thing with the 160M contest where to
add injury to insult a DX contact gets more points, talk about stacked!!! I
realize and am appreciative that those of you farther west have even more to
complain about. I realize life is not fair but it seems like there could be a
few changes to level the playing field a bit away from the east coast. If you
don't think this is a product of the good old boys on the east coast you are
dreaming. I am a life member so I can complain.
Operators were very courtious!!! The K3 with the 200 hz filter really permitted
us to operate with virtually no interference, a wonderful thing!!! We ran at 300
hz most of the time. Thanks so much to those of you who get on even for just a
little while!!! Also thanks to the DX that gets on!!! FWIW I was on ahead
of the contest a couple of days and had the power set to zero (likely 100 mw)
and was working people. I was disappointed in 10M with the flux being pretty
high but apparently is was not for a long enough time and being the dead of
winter. With the rules is is crazy for a multi-op single TX to go to 10 meters
other than to work a new multiplier. Thanks to the other operators! We were
really short this year.
