Comments:

Unstable characterizes this year's CQ 160 CW contest. One second the station
answering you is there and the next it's not. One minute you're working the
east coast easily from Arizona and the next you struggle to work a guy in
California (news flash east coasters: that's like working any one of more than
a dozen states from Alabama). One day you're running stations well and the
next you can't buy a run for anything.

On the up side, the weird ionosphere allowed some good DX into the
unfashionable 160 meter backwater of western NA. South America showed up with
some loud signals both nights as did Europe, although the latter only briefly.
As a result I worked a new DXCC counter this year - contest bonus!

Elecraft K3 with diversity RX
TX antenna: 22 meter top-loaded, shunt-fed tower
RX antennas: K9AY loop array and N6RK 4 meter diameter tuned loop

Thanks for the contacts and your patience.
