K3 TO KPA500 TO 135' OCF DIPOLE AT 45'
Lots of activity, but at first seemed like band condx were way down. Then I
noticed that when I put the Elecraft amp into OPER, rx signals went down 15 db.
Spent a lot of time debugging, but looks like a PIN diode or something else in
the T/R circuit died.
So, made most QSOs at 100w but did have a few 500 watters in there, so stayed
in high power category. 10m was not so hot when I was on, but did manage to
work ZL1BYZ on 100w and a booming EE8E. My favorite callsign of the contest:
AG1RL, which makes me wonder when some enterprising Sicilian ham with a new son
will operate as IT5ABOY.
