Comments:
When I looked at the propagation forecast I thought the contest would really
suffer. Although there were periods of poor propagation, the bands were
generally in good shape much of the time. 10 meters was the exception. It
never really opened.
Getting close to the end I began to wonder if 1000 contacts was possible. I
didn't think so as only 40 and 80 were open. However I kept getting answers to
my CQs, so I just kept running as fast as I could. With 1 hour to go I was at Q
number 961. I needed 39 more contacts! With 5 minutes left I made QSO number
1000. 5 more made it into the log in the last 5 minutes.
Thanks to all the JAs for some great fun. Lots of lightning QRN made the low
bands challenging, with lots of repeats. But everyone stayed with it.
