Comments:
Thanks to George K5TR for the use of his station & call. Kudos to Eric NM5M
for assembling an impressive group of eight (8) teams! Eric's leadership and
encouragement - along with help from some other great D/FW Texas area ops -
shows that you can tap another layer (or more) of contest participants. I
think you might be surprised how many new (or revived) contesters might be
lurking in your area ... just waiting for someone to give them a nudge in the
right direction.
Austin Summerfest usually falls on the same weekend as the August NAQP. This
year, I stayed at the hamfest a bit longer than I usually do, as I was helping
sell a portion of the W5ZL(SK) radio estate. By the time I grabbed some lunch
and made it out to the K5TR station near Johnson City, the contest was well
underway. Even without the busy first hours, it was a lot of fun.
73,
Larry K5OT
