Comments:
After being off the air on ham radio for almost two years, it was really nice to
switch things back on this weekend and make a few contacts in SS SSB. Thanks to
everyone who said hello.
I was out raking leaves on Saturday afternoon when it struck me that this was
SSB weekend, so I opened up some boxes filled with radio gear that had not been
touched since we moved to a new QTH almost 18 months ago. I dug out a 40 meter
antenna, threw a line up in the tree on the first try and 10 minutes later had
a vertical up and ready.
I fired up the computer and hoped that my old voice files still worked, and
sure enough, they got me through 137 QSO's with little in the way of operator
error.
Hopefully I will find time to hang a couple more antennas before CQ WW CW. It
was great to be on the air again - a reminder of why I like this hobby so
much.
