And the winner is................not me! Had the most fun though. Couldn't run
with the big dogs so waited in line and worked most of what I could hear. Ran
950W with Acom 1000 and used HiZ trianglar receiving array. THE STORY: A week
ago I put up a wire antenna to see if it would be better than some dipoles and
my Hytower. It is! With an EZ-Hang sling shot, I got lines over a 75' tree
behind the house and a 55'tree in front of the house. Using my two 66' towers
at either end of the house, I got a square 80M FW loop up about 65 feet fed
with ladder line at a corner. It's almost invisible 20 gauge copper clad. I
wouldn't expect an 80M loop at 1/4 wl height to be very good, but it's better
than the Hytower and also dipoles at a similar height. Pretty good on 10/15/20
too. I played QRP on those bands this afternoon with my Flex 1500 and made 80
QRP contacts in 75 band countries in a couple hours. No doubt, my little
Hygain Trs Jt tribander is better but it's laying on the ground.
Heard a dozen more 80M countries and about 5 more zones. Never imagined I'd
come close to 80M weekend DXCC with my wire.

Thanks for the fun!
