Comments:

It was the goat. We once again made the goat stew blood sacrifice to kick in the
sun dancers and allow excellent conditions. I'm starting to think maybe this is
commercial product the North Pole Contest Group should think about selling.

Pre-contest start, (pre-goat) we had a few little minor almost nothing to worry
about situations like a full scale blizzard, road snowed in and we had to walk
up the hill, one op stuck in Anchorage, 20 meter balun destroyed on the west
antenna, 20 meter high shifted off by 90 degrees, moose next to the tower so I
couldn't get down, etc. But none of this mattered because the whole Kenai
peninsula had lost power due to ice.

The goat kicked in about 90 mins before start and all was well once again for
the Kenai station. This year we hosted the famous team from HC8N who left
Kenai, Alaska assuming 24 hours of constant prop to Europe was normal on 15, 20
and 40.

Trey, N5KO acted as station chief and found on occasion too many hands waving
for his attention to take the mult xmit. Zoli, HA1AG also known as
"that
high speed CW guy" from Hungary leaped at any chance to work the
unruly
Europeans which gave the rest of us a nice break from having our brains sucked
out. He could have operated anywhere in the world, and has, so it was extra
nice that he picked our invitation to visit Alaska in the dead of winter. He
wasn't disappointed to see a blizzard in progress as he assumed this is just
another day in Alaska.

Tree, N6TR fresh from a record CW SS score from the Yukon decided to try for
another from Alaska so he and Wigi, AL7IF did a multi-op SS phone and won that
record as well. He agreed to stay over for the WW code and now has yet another
contest record from above 60 degrees north.

Wigi who has contested with us for the past 20+ years makes the Sunday post
contest meal and for years it was "loser fishsticks" when the
station
was in Fairbanks which is under the aurora. From Kenai his meals have improved
1000% and this time it was a full turkey dinner. The goat is back in the
freezer.

ARRL 10 next, 73 Rich KL7RA.
