I had my best start ever in a ARRL 160 test, averaging better than 60 per hour
for well over 4 hours. All I did was run for the first 5 hours on 1827.
Although I only got 13 DX (12 countries), I was happy that almost all of them
called me. Just could not get enough time in the chair. Total time was only 13
hours. I am really enjoying having the BOGs and Beverage. Still not used to the
directivity. Numerous times I asked for several repeats on a call before I
thought to switch the Beverage. Usually the signal then jumped up to perfect Q5
copy! Stations I could nearly hear on one antenna were very loud on another. W2
stations in Florida get me every time. I need practice using diversity mode on
the K3 with a Beverage in each ear. I guess that will at least reduce the
number of times I am on the wrong antenna since I only have two ears. Looking
forward to the next 160 test.
73 and thanks for the Qs,
Don
