Comments:
Thanks to Frank for letting me use his station again. The ice storm earlier in
the week had me concerned. The antennas & rotors were still iced when I
arrived. The rotors wouldn’t always turn, so decided to get an antenna in
each major direction & never touched the rotors during the contest. The
only monobander was at Japan. Tribanders were pointed at Europe, South America
& the US, so it worked out OK. Fortunately, the snow during the contest
never caused any static.
Conditions were certainly good. But not as good as some of the 10m contests
during the previous cycles. 860 European contacts and even 10 into Japan made
the contest interesting. But without any sporadic E openings, only a few
backscatter contacts were made into the highly populated areas of W3, W4, W8
& W9. So only 1014 US contacts.
Let hope for good conditions again next year.
