Comments:
Had to boogie on home right away after German class, so did s crazy thing and
operated the NSL mobile driving through the middle of Austin right down the
center of the 6th Street entertainment district, and then on out onto a
freeway. Very heavy traffic. Logged by SS-prime method (upgraded to a ball
point pen)on an ARRL mobile mini log by an interior light in the car. Sent all
by "padlette" and managed to keep the car inside the lanes in very
heavy downtown traffic. Did very well to start, and had 19 contacts through 20
minutes, but got only one contact in the last 10 minutes when most had gone to
80 and 160. Thanks to K0EU for that one. No antenna for either with the FT857D
and the ATAS120 screwdriver on the rear of the trunk deck.
Had a nice little micro-exchange with "Der Locust" and he accused me
of running "power" and using a yagi. Ha! Perhaps the "Ride of
the Valkerie" spirit helped me out, since they might have been looking for
a refugee from a German class.
Lotsa great sigs. From memory, VVA and ZZ and RO were especially loud on 20 and
BAI and NO3M and N3QE were likewise on 40. Tnx to all. Jim
