Another great contest. A friendly bunch of great people just having fun. I'm
surprised I ended up with the numbers in the log that I did. I really want to
thank everyone who was not in the contest or casually so, who came out to give
us contacts. One fellow, K2DSW from Iowa, just merrily went from band to band
handing out Q's as the only person on from his State. He amassed over 150 Q's
by the time I worked him yet another time towards the very last minutes of the
test. Was also good to hear K3KN and K1ZZ, as well as DXpedition vets like
K4BAI in there. Thanks to everyone who helped me, and our club, out with
contacts. We will be there n your QSO parties to return the favor. 73. Harv,
K2PI

Call: K4VIG Class: M/MFixed LP Total Score = 132,665
We operated from a hunting lodge in Wythe County. The team consisted of K4VIG
(who used to live in Wythe county), Ken K3JWI, Paul WA4AA, Howard WB4ZBI and
W4NZ. We set up two stations Field Day style, a TS590s/G5RV and Elecraft K3/40M
EDZ. Conditions were good but had to compete with the Russian DX contest on the
high bands until Sunday morning. As usual, 40m was the money band on both
modes. Thanks for all the QSO's. It was FUN!

73, Ted W4NZ for the K4VIG team

Call: KE0G Class: SOAB/CWFixed LP Total Score = 299
K3/10 running all 10 watts. Used a 74' dipole at 30' height, fed with ladder
line and a Matchbox tuner. (Ice storm knocked down my 50' to 60' high wires
this winter, so struggled a bit to make QSO's). Had a busy weekend for family
reasons, but got in a few QSO's. Thanks for your copy of my light signals this
time. Sounds like you got hit with a snow storm for most of the state this year
! I hope to C U down the log. 73, Dan, ke0g

Call: KN4Y Class: SOAB/CWFixed LP Total Score = 5,684
Worked only CW and found only two mobiles one time, most activity with fixed
stations. Saturday was mostly 40-meters and Sunday 20-meters, with a brief run
on 80-meters. Lost last 3 hours to a thunder storm and power outage. Need more
to get off the padded chair and into a car seat. On a scale of 1 to 10 this VA
QSO party was somewhere in between. Heard nothing of VHF or UHF.

Call: NN4RB Class: SOAB/PhFixed LP Total Score = 15,515

Call: W1END Class: SOAB/CWFixed LP Total Score = 6,076
Don't think there were any serious mobiles in this bash but the fixed stations
were out in full force. I finally tuned 20 meters at the right time and found
the mob had migrated there. In the last two years I found nothing on 20.
Thanks to the organizers and everyone who showed up.
Rig was FTdx500 (150w) and Butternut HF6V all-band vertical.

Call: W7KAM Class: SOAB/PhFixed LP Total Score = 608
Part time operation this year. Never did hear the bonus station on 20 or 40
SSB.
Did manage to work a couple of mobiles. 100 watts into a G5RV Jr. up 20 foot.

Call: W9QL Class: SOAB/PhFixed LP Total Score = 8,276
Really poor band conditions, especially on Saturday. Tried calling CQ and never
did get a response. Never heard anything on 20 until Sunday morning. Sunday was
a little better and was able to at least get some responses to my CQ calls. Not
even close to my best score in this contest but still had a good time. As
usual, the mobiles helped add some rare multipliers, so thanks goes to them and
their patience in the poor conditions. Score reflects bonus for working K4NVA.
See you next time.
