Comments:

This is my favorite contest as there is always a chance to fill my craving of
massive SSB runs/pile-ups on 6m. I finally got my own home station and have it
setup for the new SO3B category and it played well. I added a 6m 4 element
stack and a 2m 10 element fixed towards MN. All day Saturday we had rain and
random thunderstorms. This made local ground wave conditions poor and I failed
to complete 432 contacts with several stations that I have worked in the past.
6m first opened around 23:50z with a contact with WA7JTM. It stayed open until
about 3z working several grids in TX, NM, AZ, CO and UT. K0YW wins the award
for the strongest signal. He was 59+40 when no other beacons/stations were in.
We then had a severe round of thunderstorms roll through. I had to shut the
station down and cancel a few meteor scatter skeds.

Sunday morning 6m scatter was great to the east coast and I put several new
grids in the log. The new 4 el stacked worked better than the 7 el at times.
K1TOL was solid for hours when everyone else was just pings/burns. 6m started
to open again around 13z. K4MM, N3LL, and N5UXT were the first ones worked. I
had a couple good fast runs and worked most of my 6m contacts in a couple of
hours. The opening closed around 19z and it was slim pickings for the rest of
the contest.

Rigs: Elecraft K3, IC-746, and FT-736R
6m: 100w - 7 el @ 55', 2x4 el stack @ 40’/28’
2m: 100w - 17 el @ 63', 10 el @ 43’ fixed west
70cm: 35w - 38 el @ 59', 28 el @ 25’

73,

Justin, K9MU - EN44
