Comments:
I was glad to have Les, VA7OM, join us for the first time. The contest came at
a time I was having some maintenance work done on the antennas. The weather
was to windy days before the contest so the work had to waite. The wind died
on the contest day and we started working on a problem with one 40M beam. We
didn't get it sorted out until 2 1/2 hours after the contest started.
We made 1Q on both 10 and 160 which says it all for both bands. We made about
half as many Qs as last year on 15. 20 was the about same as last year. We
were 100 Qs short on 40 compaired to last year. 80 was noisy, but the noise
dropped about JA grayline time both days, just like last year. There was far
to much slack time and at times there was only one band open. We quit 2 hours
before the end do to poor signals and activity. After the contest I found our
20 meter station was on the wrong antenna, a single TH6, and the bottom TH6
antenna on the 150 ft tower was intermittent on 20. Lots of outside work to do
on the station this summer.
I'M glad the JARL finally updated their web site for the AACW contest. Our
thanks go to all that called us.
73, Duane VE7UF
