If you're going to sit down for a high-summer contest here on the Front Range,
you need to resign yourself to that afternoon/evening thunderstorm rolling
through. And, sure enough...right on schedule! Unusually, though, this one
POURED rain at Chuck's for about an hour. Receivus obliteratus. The only viable
RX was with Chuck's beverages; not ideal on the high-bands, but it was that or
nothing! And, that storm-system kept pulsing off the hills all evening--mostly
south of here--lightning was still visible to the south at local midnight. 40
was, ummm, "difficult." 80? Right! 160? I worked the only 3
signals I heard. Thanks to the Cow (KC0W) for Zone 7.

Sounds like a tough deal. Something good's gotta' happen here. Enter Mr.
Twenty Meters. Not sure I've EVER heard him open longer and stronger. Even
the crashes couldn't keep those EUs, Russians and JAs down! And, for the short
summertime window we have to Asia on 40, and with the local QRN (reasonably)
down, 40 was kind at the end, too. But, it was Mr. Twenty at center stage, and
he saved the day. Thank you, Mr. Meters!

Got home about 7:30 AM Sunday, attempted a couple hours of sleep, played 18
holes Sunday afternoon. Got stronger on the back 9 holes, go figure? A little
groggy yesterday and still feelin' it today. That's OK. Loved every minute!
And, I'll keep doing it 'til I can't do it no mo'...

Thanks to Chuck for letting me drive his superbly-capable car. A most
enjoyable, if oft-challenging little ride...
