Having done County Expeditions from Mammoth Lakes, Mono County for the past 22
years, it was a new experience doing CQP about 8,000 feet lower in elevation
from my home QTH in LANG. I missed spending time in the Sierra and the great
pine trees for hanging my wire antenna farm, but I was ready to take a break
from all the work associated with a single op county expedition.
At home I didn't have room for my 80M dipole, but I was able to shoot a guy
line over a neighbor's tree to put it up for the weekend. That part felt a
little bit like a portable operation.
Some years I have gotten a sweep of all the sections on Saturday, but his year
I was still missing 5 sections on Sunday morning. I was able to find VT and NE
and the highlight was getting number 22 from VE5JJA for SK. However, I still
missed AK and NT.
