Comments:

Bands were in terrible shape, so I put in 3.5 fewer hours than last year's
personal best (3.387M points in 17.5 hours). With 20M and 15M not working well
on Sunday morning, I reset my goal to simply approximating a dumbed-down
version of last year -- 450 Qs and 2.387M points, which was 150 Qs and a
million points short of 2013's total. Hit both weak targets, but am very
disappointed in the result.

Points per contact were down on all bands except 40M and 80M, but on 80M there
were just 16 contacts -- pitiful, and signals were pretty strong from the
stations I did work, so it must have been low participation. Double points and
just 16 takers? 40M was down by 100 contacts (33 percent) from last year, too.

Not much to say about 10M other than EU on 10M seems to be all done for the
cycle, at least from here where it requires a double pass through the auroral
oval.

Got up at 1 a.m. and worked the first two hours of the final session, landing
precisely 17 contacts on 80M and 40M before going back to bed.

15M warmed up in the final half hour but only a few stations heard me CQing
over the pole, and I worked just 40 stations in that final hour and a half of
the contest. Frustrating conditions. Better luck next year.

Best points: RI1ANT on 20M for 17,496. Next best was ZS6WB on 20M for 16,124.

Thanks to everyone for getting on.

Gotta love the three-session Makrothen format, if not the propagation. This is
a sunny and warm Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend here... now off to mow the
lawns for the final pass of the season, stow the yard equipment and enjoy a big
turkey dinner.
