Comments:
Congratulations to Team K3LR for an outstanding score. Tim, you set a very high
bar!
The WE3C team completely rebuilt the shack operating positions in October. In
true ham spirit, finishing touches were being applied on the Friday afternoon,
but by contest time, we were ready to enter the fray. As other have noted,
"There's no meters like 10 meters," but conditions on the low bands
were not so good. No matter, the team pressed on, and the maiden voyage of the
new gear was completed with no smoke being released.
The antenna farm continues to improve, with separate stacks available for run
and S&P stations on the high bands for the first time. The diversity
proved very helpful, and we are looking forward to improvements in operating
strategies that this new capability provides. Improvements in 160 and 80m
antennas are also planned.
It should be noted that information/photos at www.we3c.com are dated, and
largely incorrect. We will be working on updating the site with current
info/photos in the near future.
Thanks to CQ/WWROF for sponsoring The Big One, and to all the operators
worldwide who ended up in our log. We are really looking forward to the CW
portion, with hopes that we can get a repeat of the great 10m conditions.
73 for the WE3C Team - Dave N3RD
