Comments:
WOW, The band was Cooking, but not on fire.... Close though!!! Wish I hadn't
left my mono-banders stored in NV when I came to N TX! Could of used the 4 ele
10M yagi to great success this weekend. Took what little antennas and spare
aluminum I had available and in field day like conditions I crafted a pair of
crossed dipoles at 28 feet, each with its own feedline so I could instantly
switch azimuth from favoring EU/PAC to that of AS/SA. Used a pair of radios
this weekend, A IC-706mkIIg running 100W on SSB and my ailing IC-746 running
50W on CW (The 746 is fully outfitted with optional filters for CW). I won the
NTX section for low power mixed mode assisted last year wit a bit over 80K
total points and hoped to double that... When it looked like I might actually
have a decent score, I made the choice to keep my fat old butt in the chair and
push thru to the end. For minimal antennas and low power the key it to THINK
LOUD, And You Will BE!!! That's what happened this weekend... Thanks to the
folks at work who keep putting up with my setting up the tower trailer and
operating from my desk, LOL. Only regret is not being able to wake up earlier
both mornings as it cut into the window to EU... 73s from N TX de Tim - K7XC -
