Thanks to the members of the Cayman Amateur Radio Society for the use of the FB
radio station. It sure is nice to show up at the station and get everything
setup and working in less than half an hour. It was also great to have full
SO2R capabilities again. Scott, WU2X, generously loaned me his YCCC SO2R box
and it worked great along with N1MM+. The new N1MM+ is a great piece of
software and the changes really make operating enjoyable. The amount of work
that goes into building and maintaining the software must be incredible.
Thanks to everyone that makes it the best contest logging software.
Living in a rare DX location has certainly not helped my SO2R skills. The last
time I operated two radios was the WPX contest in 2013. It's too easy to get
lulled into sleep with high rates using a single radio and I should have done a
better job working the second radio hard. However, it still wouldn't have been
enough to catch N9RV and N2IC. Amazing scores! I'd pay the price of a movie
ticket to watch a documentary to see how these guys operate two radios. Maybe
we should initiate a Kickstarter.
Overall bands were decent. I'm quite happy with how the mult total turned out
but was hoping to make around 1600 contacts. 15 didn't sound like its usual
self and 20 wasn't that great either. Only worked 8 Californian stations on 10
meters. Seems like that number should be around 30. 80 sounded great from
here. Very quiet and some loud signals but the rate was just never there, even
with a two element beam at 100'.
Thanks for all the moves.
