Part time (15 hours) as the weekend was otherwise eventful with my teenage
son's departure for Ethiopia. I wanted to make this my first QRP contest, but
screwed up with the first few QSOs on Sunday morning running well over (at
about 12 W) before I noticed. Must have accidently turned the "multi"
knob. Other than this, everything was grand. Conditions very good. My 80/40
vertical worked like never before; must be engineered for QRP :^) Peter's
(VE3HG) advice for QRP contesting (behave like you are QRO part in particular)
very solid; obviously in my case no dedicated QRP radio, hence the screw up. I
worked all continents and even managed 2 runs: 14 Qs on 15 and 23 Qs on 20.
Also managed 5 QSOs on 160; that took far too long at ~4 Watts into a 4:1 SWR
vertical to be productive in the contest, it was a matter of blind rage and
ambition. My first 160 QRP contact was with Yuri VE3DZ @ 6Y2T: trust me, Yuri
must have something done to his ears; he was also my only 6 band station.
Thanks for the Qs and the fun. I may try this QRP business again...
