Fun Fun Fun!!!!!! That's what this was!
I actually made some 160 meter Q's. The amazing thing about that is that I have
no 160 meter antenna. I used my quite low 40 meter half square. And 80...Never
had much luck with the antenna here into EU. But, I worked all continents other
than Asia with my inverted vee at about 30 feet at the apex. 40 antenna is a
parallel fed inverted vee with the 80 meter antenna. So ALL low band antennas
are very poor indeed.
The quad worked well on 20-10, but I was disappointed with conditions on 10 and
15. It seemed that there were way too many "whisper" Q's meaning that
the sigs were just like a very quiet whisper.
Thrills in this contest were beating out both N5AW (the renowned LP guy)in a
pileup and K5RX once as well.
Next year will bring a new QTH for me and of course as is my wont another
compromised antenna system. But a 73 I will be very happy just to be able to
put out some RF!
Should be some very fine scores this year.
73 Tom K5IID
