Comments:
Two old men and one radio. Our plan had been to run multi-2 but Murphy devoured
the TS-590 front end on Wednesday so we changed plans. First multi effort for
us here. It was fun working together with Lou. We had a blast!
Ain't no meters like 10-meters. We had over 900 Qs on 10m before Sunday
morning local and we're glad we had them. Propagation on 10m here was not kind
to us on Sunday.
What is with guys not knowing the contest rules? DX stations calling not
knowing we're in a contest as DX but the real deal is U.S. stations not wanting
to work us because they are working DX-only. Had to explain a couple times that
Hawaii IS DX for them in this contest. Maybe they were copying WS7M? Maybe
they hadn't reviewed the rules (this should be on your pre-contest checklist).
We had at least two instances where we had already worked a station two or three
times and they said they couldn't work us because they were only working DX.
Pardon the rant.
One of the best things about working from the DX side is working friends back
in the states. Lots of fun. It was a pleasure to work you.
A special thanks to Max, KH6ZM, and his XYL, Kathy, for their hospitality in
hosting us and providing excellent food. They are very good hosts. And happy
70th birthday to Max. Tanti auguri!
Jim, N6TJ, we feel your spirit here. 73, OM!
I'll here for the ARRL phone test. See you in the pileups!
73 and aloha,
Fred/KH6/NA2U
