Comments:
In the spirit of generating points for YCCC I hang a 10M dipole from the
upstairs window to improve my antenna farm (already had a 20M dipole @ 15ft) so
armed with two dipoles and my K3 I joined the fun. Since I had to catch up on my
office work I could only do some S&P on Saturday while working. On Sunday I
thought I would see if the tuner in the K3 could tune the 20M dipole on 15M and
it sort of worked. Now armed with 3 bands I continued to do some S&P between
work until 15Z when I called CQ on 28,885 and couldn’t believe the result. Had
over an hour of run that got the 10 min rate meter up to 228 and ended the hour
with a rate of 179. Not bad for 100W and a dipole at 20ft! When it was 10
minutes left of the contest I couldn’t resist to see if the K3 tuner could
tune the 20M dipole on 40M and I was amazed when I was able to work TM9R and
DM9EE on 40M with my 20M dipole and 100W! My goal was to generate 250,000
points for YCCC and I sure exceeded my goal!!
