Experimented with QRP for the WPX CW. Pleased with shortened time of
operation, as this score beats the previous W5 Records, and is only 16K points
off the all-time USA record for Assisted QRP. I think I can say the station is
competitive (Record Holder operated for 33 hours - 9 more than I could with the
weather and power conditions).
Many times had to send the NE5 prefix several times...the folks seem to miss
the "E" so I'll bet several ops will have lost the contact. I cannot
fix that, NE5 is "rare" so we used it in WPX." Friday night
20/15 open was full of echos and made some calls really hard to figure
out...the number of bad spots is on the rise by my observation ... maybe those
code readers the non-morse group use is causing that.
Sent 597 signal report to one US and two EU stations...getting into the swing
of suggesting DQ for crummy signals. Didn't notice any chirp or clicks this
time around. Several guilty of not sending their call often enough.
Will I be QRP again soon? Dunno, was fun - and no, I do not send
"QRP" when I am running QRP - that wastes time from the business of
making contacts.
