Comments:
After 37 years of contesting this was, for one reason or another, the first time
I have entered the WAEDC, other than by just giving away a few points. Despite
the very poor propagation I really enjoyed it, particularly the QTC aspect, and
I think WAE will be a new fixture in my annual contest calendar now.
Disappointed that 10m never really opened to EU from here: I could hear
Brazilian stations working EU but could hear nothing of the EU stations myself.
I did catch a brief weak opening late on Sunday, but only made 18 QSOs: I think
most EU stations did not realise that 10m was open.
Rig: FT-2000, Acom 1500 amp at 1kW to Spiderbeam at 11m high, 40m 2 x
quarter-wave phased verticals, 80m single quarter-wave vertical.
