Comments:

Another fun CQWW CW contest...nothing like the amount of activity in this
contest!

We do a single radio one tower multi op to maximize points for the club.

Jay's location is very quiet with really no local QRM which can be very
frustrating when you can hear so many of the EU stations on 80/160 that can't
hear us.

Justin operated Friday night/Saturday. Jay took over Saturday afternoon and I
took the second half.

Most of the first day was spent running on 40 and 15. Thankfully 20 and 15
were open late saturday night to Asia for some nice easy double mults with
strong clear signals and through the night I worked stations on all 7
continents on 20.

160 had nice signals but the EU stations mostly could not hear me until closer
to their sunrise.

20 opened big time at EU sunrise for a few hours with nice signals and a nice
run for about 45 min followed by the typical lull in activity when you pounce
on every new mult that comes up and try to find guys to work.

On 40 the Chinnese stations had a very watery polar flutter and were hard to
copy and couldn't copy me (B1Z and a few others). On 80, JA3YBK was loudest I
have ever heard him but the pile up was too big and I didn't stick around.

20 opened back up at about 10:30z but it was hard to get a run going either
there or on 15 with signals being very weak on 15 so I picked up as many mults
as I could but my rate suffered. This continued until about 15z when I was
able to run on 15.

At 16z I was able to get short run going on 10 after realizing signals where
strongest at 115 degrees. TM6M was the strongest signal on 10 at 20 over 9.

There were nice signals from Asia throughout the day on 20....I hope this
continues and we get some more big stations in that part of the world to add to
the activity. 9M6NA, YE2A, BY5CD, etc.

As usual in this contest it is hard to stop DXing and run with so much juicy
rare DX on the air but I have to remind myself that with running comes the DX
and during a nice run on 20 I had HS0AC, D4C, A93JA, VU2ABS, 4X7R and others
call in to remind me of this.

Sunday afternoon 40 was open as early as 2pm with a nice signal working 4L8A at
19z and a bunch of other staions and I was able to run EU for a bit.

80 also had nice signals but it seemed to be one sided as HZ1BW, 8Q7DV, and a
few other stations were very solid copy here well before dark.

Score was down slightly from last year due to the lost Qs and mults on 10 but
we mostly made up for it with bigger totals everywhere else. I think this was
the first time I have worked all 40 zones on one band in a contest which was
cool.

It was really nice working all of my friends around the world I appreciate that
extra dit or two in the heat of the battle from guys like LU1FAM(LT1F), CX6VM,
and all the FRC guys at the dxpeditions....even got a hi zev from 4x4dx :-)

Thank you to everyone who called in and to all the dxpeditions who make this
interesting!

As always I am very greatful to our hosts Jay and Judi who keep the coffee
flowing for us.
