Comments:

Was only able to work Saturday night. Lots of activity on the band, and regional
signals were great. Didn't work Hawaii this year and the west coast was harder
than last year. Still looking for the elusive Alaska QSO on 160. This was my
first 160M contest with a new 500' un-terminated E-W beverage. I kept switching
back and forth between my 200' G5RV inverted vee and for the most part the G5RV
has the advantage. The beverage is definitely directional. I couldn't even hear
stations in FL with the beverage and they were strong on the G5RV. However, the
beverage had the advantage on the weak west coast signals. The signals weren't
as strong on the beverage but there was a better signal to noise ratio, and in
some cases I was able to eliminate some QRM using the beverage.

Had a number of long, productive runs and was able to hold a frequency with my
100W.

I had a lot of problems with N1MM and the K1EL Winkeyer. Worked fine the rest
of the year, so it must be an RF issue limited to 160M.

The busy fall contest season is over. Thanks for all the QSOs. See you next
year in the MiQP in April.

73, Tom
K8BKM
