Comments:

Lots of other commitments this weekend but I did manage to put over 13 hours in
for this contest.

Being CW-challenged this is my favorite contest as there are few speed demons
to contend with. Also, the band was reasonably quiet this year.

I have 11 Beverages I can choose from for copying weak signals. I left one (a
1125' Beverage) always to Europe and combined one of my other Beverages for a
different direction. I usually left that Beverage to the west or northwest and
I was able to copy the majority of signals this way.

However, when I was running occasionally I had to send "AGN" to find
a different Beverage for receiving. Often this would result in a signal that
was barely readable jumping up to S9+. My apologizes to those of you I had to
send "AGN" to in order to find a better Beverage for copying.

Conditions to Europe were so-so and non-existent to the Pacific and Asia, at
least for me. I was up at sunrise Sunday morning but I heard nothing from the
West coast and even the mid-west was coming in poorly. I never heard Hawaii or
Alaska and I missed half of the 6-land sections. Overall I missed 11 sections.
I think Friday night was much better as my good friend Bill KC4D reported that
he had managed to work all but 2 or 3 sections when he quit about 1AM Saturday
morning. He had worked as many stations Friday night as I was able to work in
the 13 hours I had operated. Bill is a much better CW operator than I am!

Overall I had fun and thanks for all the QSO's!

73, Sam W4PK
