Set up my temporary field day style station with a 60ft trailer tower, started
the contest with a 7 element beam but with some strong gusts of wind I had
concerned it would topple over the tower so this was replaced with a smaller
lighter 5 element version. Had problems with my amp and struggled to get much
over 300w before high swr warning came on. No faults found in coax/beam so more
investigation required.
found conditions varied to tough with some nice openings but sadly rather
short. Saturday better than Sunday.Strung a few nice runs to USA Saturday
peaking around 3utc, sadly only 1 contact into Canada. Next to nothing to N/A
Sunday with just the odd station then nothing. South America and Caribbean was
fair on both days. VK showed both days but only 1 JA in the log.
Spent to much time sat calling with no takers, should have S&P more.
Good fun though.
