Comments:
While conditions seemed rather punk, I was surprised to work a decent string of
EU. No JAs, VK/ZL or other Pacific stations worked besides (2) KH6.
As others have pointed out, a number of stations threw in the towel way too
quickly. After sending their call perhaps a couple times, poof!, gone! The
culprits are obviously unfamiliar with the effectiveness of directional
antennas on 160M, which can take some time to cycle through to find the best
combination. It is also not always apparent which direction is best with QSB,
QRN, et.al. to contend with, especially if trying to locate a weak station, so
patience and persistence generally prevail.
(88) EU worked: 9A, (25) DL, EI, (2) F, FM, (4) G, GW, HA, I, (6) LY, OE, (2)
OH, (12) OK, (5) ON, OZ, (5) PA, (4) S5, (4) SM, (2) SP, (5) UA, (5) UR
Other DX: CW, HI, XE, KH6, /PR, /VI
Pts: (3) 18, (3) 17, (3) 16, (21) 15, (36) 14, (2) 13, (4) 12
Score way down, but topband conditions have been rough in general, so this was
expected, though assumed it would have been far worse. Always fun at any
rate.
