Comments:
I delayed on e mailing this in because I don't want to aggravate some people who
like arrl dx contests or "the European to USA qso party". So I try to
keep rants to a minimum.
The positive. Great 10 meter prop especially Sunday with Western Europe coming
through well into afternoon Sunday. Made this contest fun. Significant drop in
European mults on 160 but only operated 2nd night so maybe more on 1st night.
N1MM bandmap is so much fun it makes a mediocre contest like arrl dx good sport
as it is a struggle to work 100 countries on any band.
My usual complaints. I hate QRP. I was listening to melodious voice of k1to
late Saturday morning on 10 meters as I finally turned on the radio for first
time. So what to heck I called cq just to be "like Dan". By the 5th
qso I am struggling to get this guys call sign with probably 8-10 transmissions
back and forth...and finally I heard him squeak "qrp" ....damn THAT is
why he is irritating the crap out of me. If you want to be a weak signal
specialist go EME or WSJT or PSK...just dont operate contests. That did it for
me...back to multiplier hunting until late Sunday 15 meters...the pileup was so
vicious that I didnt have to worry about qrpers. It was actually
"work" and decided to watch golf for last 4 hours.
