Comments:
First time I've worked more FN31 than FM19 (my own grid)! Did not work anyone
to the south, but it was not for lack of trying. I guess I should post on the
chat when I fire up the CQ machine. Best DX to the west was K8RYU in EM99 and
best to the north was W1VD in FN31. I operated for about 30 minutes at the
start and then about 60 minutes in the third hour after I got the kids in bed.
My 5-year-old was disappointed that the mic on his Pro-Set was unplugged (and
that there was no VOX).
Heard VE3DS in FN31 with a decent CW signal a couple of times but couldn't
raise him. Being >10 dB down from full power at my end probably hurt!
There was a hint of Au buzz superposed on the tropo on some of the northern
stations late in the contest and I spent a lot of time hunting around, but I
was not rewarded...
Equipment: Elecraft K3 w/ internal 2m board and ref lock, Mirage B3016 driven
very conservatively to 80-100 watts, 2x M2 9M2SSB at 24 ft / 35 ft fed with 100
ft of LMR600.
Thanks for pulling me out and look forward to 432 in two weeks.
73,
--Ethan, K8GU/3.
