Comments:
As expected, conditions were difficult this weekend. The biggest issue was when
20m closed at around 20z both nights. It is not uncommon for EA8 to have
propagation all night long on 20m, but that wasnt the case this year. The
station performed flawlessly, and the guys at URE have put together a world
class station on a small amount of land. I was very impressed with the
performance here on all bands.
A huge thanks to Icom for their continued support. I was able to use 2
IC-7851's for this contest. The radios make a big difference in being able to
pull out the weaker stations, especially with all the QRM in a contest like WW
SSB.
A huge thanks to all the people who assisted me with this operation. Juan,
EA8RM, and friends put a tremendous amount of effort into getting the station
operational. This included installing a brand new 2 el 40m Moxon on the day of
the contest. This antenna proved to be a winner with many loud signal reports.
Also, K6AM, NP4Z, N6TV, W6TMD and KK6SCE all played important roles in making
this trip a reality.
EA8 is a special place, and the team at EA8URL (URE) have created a great
station to enjoy this hobby.
