Comments:
This was my first contest from the home QTH in about 3 years and my first NAQP
CW since 2010. I improved my score dramatically from back then so its nice to
know things are still working.
The band condx were better than anticipated, but then, this was not a DX
contest. I opened on 15m, which was good for about the first hour. I then
switched to 20m, the usual bread and butter band. 40m opened earlier than I
expected and so did 80m. Must be the short days and long nights at this
latitude. My noise level on 80m was a constant S5+ and on 160m was S7+. This
was from using the shunt-fed tower and not having receiving antennas for the
top bands. Still, I managed ok and actually had some really fun runs.
Rig: Yaesu FTdx5000MP set to 100W
Ant: TH6DXX tribander at 40'
Inverted Vee for 40m
Shunt-fed 40' tower for 80/160m
