This morning was an experiment; I usually always run low power for contesting,
but I thought I would give high power a try today and see if it made any
difference in my results.

I wasn't greatly impressed; first it took three and a half minutes into the
contest before I could make my first contact, I just couldn't seem to get
anyone to hear me. After that, things picked up a little bit but I still didn't
seem to be making much more of a dent than I do running low power. Yes, my
totals were a little higher today than they've been before, but not so much
that I really feel the power was a great help.

So I guess I answered my question. My antennas and setup do the best for my
first love, DXing, and are better suited for that. I think I'll go back to low
power in my contest efforts.

Rig: Elecraft K3 w/P3 & KPA500 amp 500 watts
Antennas: 204-foot G5RV, 40m Inverted Vee
Software: N1MM Logger+ v1.0.6044.0
