Comments:
What a fun event! Completely forgot about the contest and bumped into the action
Friday evening while checking out conditions on the various bands. Rather than
run high power like everyone else, I decided to see what I could do at the QRP
level. For this contest I ran 5 Watts into a 170 ft "Inv L" up only
30'. The band was in fine shape with excellent signals heard from NA, SA,
Pacific & Asia. Saturday Night I was actually able to run rate for a couple
of short runs, Being answered by stations up and down the Atlantic seaboard!
Pulled the plug around 1230Z Sunday morning when I couldn't keep my eyes open
anymore... It still amazes me how well QRP power can work when the band
cooperates. Was a fine test of the antenna as many folks came back on the first
call!
