Comments:

I did better than I expected. I thought onditions were going to be horrible but
they weren't bad and, in fact, we're good the second night. Thank goodness. I
had planned my sleeping times and worried it was going to be a boring night.
When I realized that I might break 2,000 QSOs I stayed with it despite several
hours of not a lot of activity.

Before making the trip I built and brought a YCCC 5 circle RX array. Had some
problems that could not be fixed without Mouser Electronics to get me some
parts. I spent two days putting the RX antenna up and then a half day taking
the verticals down and putting a wire on the ground (BOG) for Europe. I had
two other RX antennas, a flag which I pointed West and another BOG to North
which was noisy. The West flag was good for a couple of juicy multipliers from
South Pacific but surprisingly I never heard a ZL or VK.

Called CQ all the time except for spinning the dial three or four times calling
less than a half dozen stations.

Because of the noise on the North BOG I used the NE BOG most of the time. JA
stations were copied on the NE BOG. Worked about 25 of them.

Lots of fun with a pretty simple setup.

TS-590S, AL-1200 amplifier at 1300 watts and 67 foot vertical with a big coil
in the center and about 30 short radials. I want to improve the radial system
but it's hard to get motivated until such time as I can hear stations who can't
hear me.

73 and thank you for the contacts.

Stan, ZF9CW
