Comments:
Six never really opened this far north on Saturday. I was teased with a few QSOs
into Texas, the SW and the VA/NC area but never could get anything going. I
spent a lot of time tuning the band, watching the P3, spinning the antenna and
calling CQ with nothing to show for it. Sunday was a literal washout. Shortly
after I turned the radio on I was treated to a continuous parade of severe
thunderstorms and torrential rains (4 1/2 inches in my NIST calibrated coffee
can rain gauge) for 10 hours. That kept the antenna unhooked. I did get a
decent opening to the west and southwest the last 2 hours and worked more QSOs
then than the whole rest of the contest. CW QSOs: 55, SSB: 6, JT65: 4, MSK144:
2. Only DX KV4FZ on JT65. Hopefully next year will be better up here. I'm
generally the only one on from EN45.
Gear: K3, P3, 400 watt amp, 5el M**2 at 55 ft.
