Kenwood TS-180s, 68 foot base loaded TX vertical with 2500 feet of buried ground
radials, 3 small point fed pennants for RX. Pan adapter using RTL-SDR receiver
with up-converter connected to the TS-180s wide band IF jack (really was
helpful visually finding signals versus having to endlessly tune through the
QRN listening for stations, and also very helpful understanding how much of the
band was being used in the contest).
QRN all night from storms NW of Indiana and SE US made for very difficult copy,
and enjoyed working everyone that hung in there. Herb (KV4FZ) was very strong
and stable for long periods of time (typically S7 to S9), and K2AV was easy
copy starting at least an hour before sunset. Heard no stations out West
through the QRN which was disappointing.
Looking forward to the Pre and Big Stew later this year.
