Well, that was fun!
This is my second CQWW contest. I have made big improvements to my 20m antenna,
so I was vastly better on that band then last year. However, my SWR on 40m was
high and my antenna is not very good on that band, so it was slow going at
night.
I have no 80 or 160m at my QTH.
I was able to run a little bit on 20 and 40m, but most QSOs were made by search
and pounce.
I was hoping to have my extra by now, but I'm not quite ready so I am a bit
limited on my frequencies, especially on 40m since I can not transmit below
7178. On 20m I had to stay above 14225 and on 15m above 21275. That did, of
course, hurt my score. I hope to be an extra class in time for ARRL DX and WPX
in a few months.
Great fun despite a modest station:
-Yaesu FT-450d @ 100w
-Dipole at 25 feet for 40 and 15m
-Delta loop at 65 feet for 20 and 10m
I did oversleep on Sunday, so I did not get on the air until 10 AM. I am still
kicking myself for that since I missed a good amount of QSOs then haha!
I picked up just one new one (I think): Turkey
I also snagged a few band-fills...
